Intelligence reached Suva on 29th July of a cold-blooded murder committed at Na Mata Vatn, on the Eaki Baki coast of Viti Levu, the viofcini being a white man named Thomas Belling, whose head had been battered in with an axe. The tragedy was surrounded in mystery. The deoeaaod was an old groy-headed mair, about 70 years of age, and well-known for the past 15 or 20 years in both Loruka and Saw He was an eduoatod man, roducod in circumstances. Btdnbt, This Dat. A German trader named Pfeiffer has been mnrdered by the Aoba natives. The warships Goldfinch and Soorff are investigating the matter.
