London, 2nd Angust. A_ prolonged enquiry on behalf of the Anti-Slavery Society has produced a report to tho effect that 60,000 lives are sacrificed every year in supplying Zanzibar and Arabia with slaves.

London, 2nd August. Ten of the Gnlf of Siam's cattle Bold at 5Jd to sid per lb. Experts say the hones were soft, and nnable to endnre the heat of the Tropics. They aro pleased with the quality of the cattle.

London, Ist August. The Bank of England returns pniJished to-day show the toVl- reserve to be .£28,102,000, the proportion of reserve to liabilities being 5776 per cent. Three months' bills are discounted, at I per cent.
New Zealand long-berried wheat, ex warehouse, 26s 6d, quiet; South Australian do, 275, qniet ; Victorian do, flat, 275. For an Australian wheat cargo offcoast, sellers ask 25s 3d, but buyers offer Gd less. New Zealand hemp is quiet, and prices are nnobanged. New Zealand mutton— First quality, 3Jd per lb ; second quality, 3£d- Lamb, 4Jd. Peas, 25a 9d. Sngar -German beet, 9s lOd; Java, Hi 10id. Hobaet, Tins Dat. Arrived— Waihora, from the Bluff.
The Union Steojn Ship Company has been advised that the chartered Bteamer Mount Sirion left Calcutta on Tuesday last for Singapore and Auckland, with 3500 tons of oargo for all ports. She is due in Wellington about 31st August. Advices received by the local agents state that the Gothic left Capetown for Hobart and Wellington yesterday afternoon.
