THE TEMPERANCE CONVENTION.

1 The Temperanoe Convention resumed at 10 a.m. to-day, Mr. F. H. Fraser in the chair. The Bey. Mr. Wills, of Ormondville, tnoved— "That the Mew Zealand Alliance Executive take steps to bring about at an early date the federation of all the various Temperanoe Societies in the colony in uncompromising effort for the suppression of the liquor traffio." Mr. Olsen (Noraewood) seconded the motion. The Key. Mr. Uewdney (Oamaru) moved • as an amendment - "'lhat this Convention urges the Executive of the Divisional Leagues to Beoure the effective organisation of the Tomperance forces in their respective districts, and recommends that similar organisations be formed, if possible, in all distriots where they do not now exist; and that a committee he appointed by this Convention to put into effeot the latter part of thia resolution." After a long disoussioo, the Eev. Mr.. Wills withdrew his resolution, and the amendment was carried unanimously. The Eev. W. J. W. Millar (Napier) moved —"That this Convention strongly .protests against thp culpably negligent manner in whioh the licensing laws are being administered, and calls upon the authorities^ to enforce these laws in a firm, just, and impartial manner." Mr. Harding (Napier] seonnded the motion. The debate on it was interrupted by the luncheon adjournment.
