Bviitma Post Office, ,- Saturday Afternoon The Customs duties collected at the port of Wellington for the week ending to-day amounted to £708 10s Od. Beer, £106 3s 9d Gxokgk Thohas and Co. report wholesale produce Drices as follows :— -There ib a still further tendency to advance the prices ot oats, and we hear of two sales totalling 10,000 sucks f.o.b. Bluff at an adtunce of 2|d per bushel. So far the values in this market are unaffected to any material degree. Flour and wheat still maintain late advances, and an upward movement is apparent in maize and barley for fowl feed. We quoteBoiler flour, £9 10* j bran, 60s; pollard, 95b; whole fowl wheat, 3s 7}d to 3s Od; prime BUort oats, Is Bd ; long feed, Is 8d ; duos and black tartars, Is lOd to Is 10id. O&tmealbas advanced 153, and now stands at £9 5s for leading and £8 15s for less popnlar brands. Slaize, 2s Od ; barley, 2s 3d to 2s 4d j beans, 2s lOd ; blue and partridge peas, 3s; prime Derwent potatoes, 455. A large variety of seed descriptions are now available, including Early Bose. Breezes Frolifics, Flukes, Brace's, Snowflake, 4c, at last quotations. Onions ore overstocked at 80s to 100s. Eggs are coming in plentifully, and stand as follows :— Fre*h Is, and limed 9d daz. Poultry lias slightly improved na follows:— Fowls, 2s Gd; ducks, 3s Cd; turkeys, 7s ; geese, 5s pair. Abbabak ahd Williams, Palmerston North, report of their stock market :— A moderate muster of sheep come forward on Thursday. Contrary to recent experiences the bulk sold unuar the hammer, which imparted, consequently, a much more cheerful tone. Suitable wethers advanced 6d per head over recent sale*. The demand for lambs was more vigorous than of late, which had a hardening effect upou this class of stock— quality considered equal to Is per head. The demand throughout was of such a nature as to effect a total clearance. The entry of cattle was small ; useful sorts made np the bulk. At any rate, the bidding was fairly aotiie, and all entered found purchasers. Sheep— Forward store ewes, 5s 6d; others, 4s Gd : 2-tooth ewes, 6s Cd; empty ewes, 3s 7d ; well-bred breeding ewes, mixed ages, 6s Od ; lambs, 3s 3d to Ss lOd. Cattle— 3-year steers, in forward condition, £4 89 6d to £4 10s ; 20-month steers, £2 15s; springing heifers, £3] poor yearlings, 19s ; small weaners, 14s, jMessrs Edwards and M"Beatu report wages for last week as follows:— Married couples, £70 to £90; carpenters, 10s; bricklayers, 12s; blacksmith*, 9s to 10s; painters and glaziers, 10s; plumber* and gasfitters, 9s to 10s ; storemen, 42s to 60s ; draymen, 42s to 50s ; coachmen, 30s to 355 ; groom*, 25* to 35b; gardener*, 6* to 8s; form bonds, 15s to 255 ; milkmen, 25s to 27s hotelmen 20sto40s; barmaid*, 2ss to 3os; waitresses, 15s to 20s; cooks, 25s to 40a; female do, 25s to 355; housemaids, 12* to 20a; general servant*, 10s to 14s ; nursefrirls and boys, 7s to 15s. We cannot reoord any improvement.
