The Anti Chinese League.
|Bt Telegraph.— Press Association.] Uhbibtchubch, 7th June. At a meeting from the various political and Labour societies it was deoided to form an anti-Chinese League. , The objects of the Leagne adopted were to the following effect:— To educate public opinion to assist in all social movement ß and support all legislative efforts in the direction of restricting the Chinese and other undesirable competitors in tha colony's labonr markets by raising the poll-tax on Chinese to at least .£IOO, by enforcing the inspection of promises occupied by Chinese and other Asiatics, by absolutely prohibiting the naturalisation of any Chinese or other Asiatics, by urging the Government to refuse mail snbsidiea to any steamer or other veaßel carrying, as the whole or part of the orew, any Asiatic, Lasoar, or Kanaka; by the members pledging themselves, and induoing others, not to deal with any Asiatic grower and vendor of any marketable products, or with any European retailer who supplies such produots, or with any trader who sells, or causes to be sold, any goods except snoh as conld not be made by onr own workers, manufactured or produced by Chinese and other allied raooa.
