The quarterly meeting of the Wellington Branch of the Educational Institute was held at the Chess Club Rooms this morning, the President (Mr. J. J. Pilkington) in the chair. The Downes and Turner Cup, won outright by the club, was handed to the President, to be kept un.il the club has a room of its own to placa it in. Messrs. Davis & Clater and Mr. T. Warnook offered trophies to be competed for in the coming season. After the business a sooial hour wag spent, songs, <fco., being rendered by members of the club. A late shipment of 1600 pair of blankets haa been just opened by C. Smith, the Cash Draper, Cuba-street, bought when wool was at the very lowest.
