A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
■» This afternoon a serious accident happened to a yonng man named 'William Lauchlan, about 20 years of age, employed as a lineman by the New Zealand Electrical Syndicate. Lauohlan was on the arm of an electric lighting pole opposite Mr. E. Anderson's warehouse, Willisstreet, making a joint in a wire, and it is presumed that as he stepped from the arm to the bidder the latter Blipped owing to the tret oondition o£ tbe oonorete pavement. The poor fellow fell to the ground, a distance of about 20 feet. No one rendered aid till Lauchlan had lain on the footpath for some 15 minutes, by which time Constable Sbarpe and Mr. Suckling-Baron, manager for the syndicate, arrived. The Fire Brigade ambulance was procured, and the injured man was conveyed to the Boys' Ins'itute, where Dr. Talbot afforded snoh temporary assistance .as was in his power, and LanchUn was then removed to the Ho-pitil. The leg was broken above the knee, the bone protruding about four inohes.
