• : So excellent has been the bookiug for " The Guvnor " to-night that a good attendance is assured, and the Opera House should be crowded. Last night a satisfactory dress rehearsal was held, and we are informed that . members of the dramatio profession who were i present were extremely pleased with the . ability shown. It is an exceptionally strong amateur oast, and a very good and even per- ! formanoe should result. -Every care -has been taken to appropriately mount and dress ! the comedy, and apeoial scenery has been painted by Mr. J. S. Allan. Jupp's Band , will maron from Te Aro to the Opera House, and the Garrison Band from the Government Buildings to the Opera House, before the performance, while an orchestra of 16 performers, led by Mr. Hotop and oonduoted by Mr. E. J. King, will supply the inoidental mnsio within. Mr. Hyde supplies wigs and make-up, Mr. J. J. Kennedy (of the KennedyLuoiS Company) and the Amateur Opera Sooiety have placed properties and oostumes from their wardrobes at the disposal of the promoters, the representative of the Did- , matio Authors' Sooiety has tendered the , oopyright fee, and as these and all other , services are free, the benefit should have a \ most satisfactory resnlt. His Exoellenoy and Lady Glasgow and suite, officers of the Pylades, Bishop and Mrs. Wallis, and many others are to be present. A train will leave Te Aro at 11.5 andThorndonat 11.15 p.m. to take out Hnfct and Petone residents.
