MR. NATHAN'S MEAT TRUST SCHEME.
| .. IPBISB AaaOOIA.TION. I Woodville, This Dat. Mr. D. J . Nathan addressed a large meeting convened here last evening by the Bush Distriot Farmers' Club, several having come from as far as Napier. His frozen meat proposals were discussed at length and met with general support. Mr. W. H. Kelson, of Nelson Bros. (Limited), supported Mr. Nathan's proposals of consolidation of control, but doubted the possibility of comi bining with the Boheme the retail t bnsinese at Home, and instanced the i fact that his firm supplied 3000 retail firms. A hearty vote of thanks was given to Mr. Nathan, eulogising bis services to the country in bringing this matter forward in the 3 way ho had done. Mr. George Heslop drew attention to the necessity of supporting the reinstatement of silver coinage and adomesj tic ourrenoy, and so goin? to the root of the cause of the fall in prices. Ho pointed out that for one-half per cent, the banks got the right from the State to issue paper money, and contended that there was no reason wby the Government Bhould not issue money , direot to the people at, say, 2 per cent , and ' let the State have the profit. Besolutions were passed calling on the Government to convene a conference to discuss the frozen meat question, and Messrs. Bolton, Cotter, and Crosse were appointed to represent tbe olnb in such convention. The meeting wu an enthusiastic one.
