The committee of the Chamber of Commerce has forwarded a letter to the Premier respectfully protesting against' the neV Income Tax retnrn form on the following grounds:— (l) The amount of labour required, and consequent expense in compiling ' the returns ; (2) the inquisitorial nature of 9 muoh of the information required, and the 3 danger of confidential information leaking 1 out through the returns i.assing through * numerous hands. The committee suggest that Income Tax should be assessed on a three years' basis, as in Kngland.
