PETONE.

The Rev. A. Thomson presided. The report stated that the Behool had made fair progress dnring the year, the number of children on the roll being 609, with an average attendance of 466; 561 scholars were presented for examination, of whom 269 passed. Representations having been made to the Board as to the crowded state of the school, the Board had deoided to erect an infant school at an early date. The sohool was again successful in the matter of scholarships, securing two of the four offered, the winners being X Atkinson and L. K. Manning. Eighty certificates were also obtained for drawing. In consequence of irregular attendance the Board waa asked to appoint the local constable truant officer, the Committee appealing to headß of families to aseist them in thia matter. Tho Committee regretted that it waa unable to conclude arrangements with the proprietor for the nse of tho baths as in former years, and trusted that the new Committee would use their best endeavours to obtain swimming accommodation. The balance-sheet showed the receipts to have been £10314s 4d, including a balance of 19a Gd, and the expenditure £101 6b Id, leaving a credit balance of £2 8s 3d. The report and balance-sheet was adopted The new Committee is as follows: — Rev. A. Thomson, Mcsars. E. Homo, H. Mothes, W. Parrant, T. Oxenbam, J. Gaynor, J. Renai, B. Brown, and W. Hagon. Votes of thanks were passed to the teaching staff and the retiring Committee. The new Committee met after tho meeting and elcoted the Hey A. Thomson Chairman and Mr. C J. Johnston Secretary.
