/Our Cut Correspondent. J Palmkeston North, This Dat. The Longburn Freezing Company commenced freezing operations yesterday. The first consignment will be shipped by the Rangitira. Settlers at Fitzherbert and Linton have lost largely in sheep during the past winter. Several report their losses to oxoeed 200. It is supposed that the sheep hare wandered into the bush.
[UNITED PBKSS ASSOCIATION.] Chribtchubch. 12th December. Mr. G. W. Rnssell, M.H.B. for Riccarton, addressed bis constituents to-night, and received a vote of thanks and confidence and an expression of appreciation of the independent charaoter of his criticism of public affairs. Dean Jacobs and Archdeacons Harper and Lingaf d have been elected, olerical representatives of the Diocese of Cbristchurch at the General Synod, and Sir John Hall, Messrs. W. G. Britton, J. M. Bat ham, and H. A. Webb have been elected lay representatives. Dunedin, 12th December. At a special meeting of the Licensing Committee to consider the question of conditional licenses in view of the application of the Caledonian Society, it was decided to adbere to the previous dooision to refnse all such licenses. It is understood thit the committee will reconsider this and othei matters after it has been a year in office. Auckland. 12th December. It is expeoted thafextensive repairs to the German warship Bussord will keep her here till February. Woodvillk, This Dat. Mr. Turnbull, S.M., gave judgment to-day in a case for attachment of the wages of an employs' on Government 00-operative works, He refused tbe order, holding that undei the Crown Suits Act the matter was out ol his jurisdiction.
