The Chairman of tho Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, in his usual address, eaid that as the managoment of the railways would pass undor the control of the Government on Ist Jannary, the committee consider*)/ 1 , this a favourable opportunity to- press for f. revision in the claßsifioatiSn and a reduction in the rates hitherto charged to users of the railways in the district. The matter had V to the Railway Committee of uiie Chamber, who had been - requeflted to confer with the Canterbury Progressive Liberal Association in the matter. Auckland, This Dat.
