The weekly returns of the Bank of England published to-day show the total reserve to be .£26.740,000, and the proportion of reserve to liabilities 65 34. Consols, 103^. Three months' bills are discounted at 1 per cent., the market being firm. New Zealand 4 per cent inscribed stock, 107 i; 3i per oent. ditto, 102$ . New Zealand frozen mutton, first quality, 3Jd per lb ; second quality, 2}d ; lamb, first quality. 4f d. The New Zealand hemp market is fiat, and is in poor demand. New Zealand long-berried wheat, ex warehouse, quiet, 24s 6d; South Australian wheat, ex warehonso, steady, 255. A South Australian wheat cargo, ex Benmoor, sold at 24s 3d. From 10,000 to 12,000 quarters of South Australian wheat, to be shipped in December and January, sold at 24s 6d. Victorian wheat, ex warehouse, is steady at 24s 6d. Sngar, German beet, is weaker at 9s; Java, quiet at 12s 3d. No. 1 best Scotch pig iron, f.o.b. in Clyde, 42s 6d, market quiet. Silver, 2s 4d 7-16 d per oz. At the wool sales there is a good catalogue and bidding has a hardening tendency, in expectation of large withdrawals. Buyers show an increased demand, and for good sorts the bidding is spirited at id to £d above opening rates.
