OUR WOODVILLE LETTER. (Our Own Correspondent.)

Woodville, 14th September. A farmer living within three miles of Woodville had a valuable young bull. To make sure of the animal he put a ring through its nose with a small chain about lft long hanging to the ring. No sooner had he let the animal into the paddock than the brute made for the bush, and for over a month never waa seen, although the farmer had spent days looking for him. The bull turned up yesterday, with the nose clean out in half and the animal about as fat as a atiok. The poor bruto must have been caught by the chain, and how long he was tied up it is hard to say. Only hungor oould nave made him tear himself free. The three new candidates for the Woodville Borough Council are Messrs. Scally, Manisty, and Troop. All these gentlemen are against further borrowing, so that tho new idea for water supply and lighting the town will fall through. The Woodville Cricket Club held its annual general meeting at the Club Hotol. Several new members have joined. The club has also joined the Bush Union, and with tho assistance of Wilson, Walsh, and Scott, should hold the oup this season. A practice ground cloeo in the town has been laid off, bo that every chance will be given to new members, and orioket should flourish this yoar in Woodville.
