The Gaming Bill received His Excellency's assent this morning, so that any person betting totulisator oddß is now liablo to proseoution. Clarenco, who came in first in the Hnrdlo Race at the second day's raoing of the South Canterbury meeting last week, was disqualified for inconsistent running, and tho stakes wore awarded to Thorpe, the second horse. The rider of Clarence (T. Stewart) was ordered to stand down for two months. ' The viotory of Mr. S. H. Gollan's colt Bonnie Scotland in the A.J.C. Derby is another proof ot tho qnality of horses bred in New Zealand. This is tho first occasion that the Sydney Derby has boen captured by a New Zealand-owned and bred colt. Mr.' Gollan still owns Bonnie Scotland's dam, Fair Noll. _______ __
