MURDER OF A FRENCH OFFICIAL AT SHANGHAI. IBPECIAL. I Shanghai, Ist September. Outrages on foreigners continue, the latest victim being M. Chaillet, French Collector of Customs in Hanoi, Tonquin, whose murder was to-day recorded. The deceased's wife and daughter were kidnapped. Tho French Consul has made a strong protest to the Pekin Court. H.M.S. Redpolo has returned to Chefoo from Port Arthur. Her officers deny that any attack has been made on the latter place by the Japanese.
