* The new penal code now going through the various phases of legislative evolution in Switzerland (says the British Medical Journal) contains the following clauses relating to crimes committed by inebriates : — Article 25. — If the crime is attributable to the abuse of spirituous liquors, the Judge shall have power to prohibit the - admission of the accused to public-houses for a period of from one to five years. Article 26. — If the admission of the drunkard to a special establishment isindicated, the Judge shall order it on medical advice for a period of detention varying from six months to two years.
