MABTEBTON, THIB DAT. Sorgeant M'Ardle has been asked for a report in connection with the inquest on the body of the man Johnson who rooently committed suicide. The general opinion is that much ado is being made about nothing, as the inquest was conduoted in a perfectly regular manner. A pigeon matoh was firei yosterday by the North Wairarapa Gun Club, and was won by W. J. Feist, of Lower Valley, who killed all his birds. The Wairarapa Noith County Council has refused to compensate Mr. Davidson for damage sustained through his horse putting its foot through a oulvort on the Alfredtonroad. Mr. Davidson threatens legal proceedings. Sixty-five local bodies in tho colony have expressed their opinions on the proposal of the Wairarapa North County Council to exempt improvements from taxation. Most of these opinions are favourable. The Tonui and other bridges in the county have been seriously injured by the reoent floods. In the Magistrate's Court to-day a man named M'Guire was fined Is for removing gravel from tho Waipoua riverbed.
