TE ARO GOODS SHED RECLAMATION.

i The following letter has been sent by order of the Premier to tho Mayor and Chairman of the Harbour Board :— "Sir— The attention of the Government having been called to tbe depressed oondi1 tion of the labour market in this city, lam directed by tho Minister for Publio Works to enquire whether your Board still persists in its objection to tbe construction of a railway goods station at tho To Aro end'of the oity, and the consequent reclamation from the harbour of the land required for the same. The Government still considers that such a station is required in order to render the extension of tho railway to Te Aro of the fullest use to the large population at the south end of the oity, and 1 am to point out that the prosecution of the work would afford employment for a considerable number of men, and would tend largely to relieve the congestion at present existing. As the oondition of the labour market renders this matter somewhat pressing, I am to request that you will be good enough to favour the Minister with an early reply.— H. J. H. Blow, Under-Seoretary for Publio Works." The City Council is to hold a meeting at 4 p m. on Monday to consider what reply shall be sent to the Premier. The Harbour Board will hold a meeting for the same purpoae at 2.15 p.m. on Tuesday.
