Sir Henry Parkes will probably oppose him. Lees and Grimes, charged with causing the death of a Chinaman who jumped from a train through fear of them, have been convicted. Lees was sentenced to 14 .rears' penal servitude and Grimes to 10 years'. Melbourne, 22nd April. The Eight Hours Demonstration was interfered with by wet weathor. The Governor was present. At a banquet in the evening, Sir Bryan O'Loghlen, in reply to the toast of the Government, said that Government would not allow any village settlement to be a failure.
