Rutherford, who has been nine years in the Bank of New Zealand, Carterton, has been transferred to the Bank's agency at Suva, Fiji. He leaves here on Monday. Masteeton, This Dat. At a meeting of settlers held at Opaki last night, it was deoided that the creamery in connection with the New Zealand Dairy Farmers' Union should be established somewhere in the neighbourhood of Opaki Bailway Station. A case in which two natives were charged with assaulting a Banger of the Acclimatization Society, was dismissed by Mr. T. Hutchison, S.M., who held that the Banger had brought the assault upon himself by interfering with the natives when they were fishing for inangas. Notice of appeal was given. Mr. James Aitken, telegraphist, was tendered a farewell "social in the Temperance Hall last night. A man giving the name of John Campbell has been arrested on a charge of stealing & bag containing jewellery, 4c, fromahawker near Martinborongh.
