It appeared first in the shape of a waterspout, which broke on Flagstaff Hill with a loud report, and threw huge boulders and trees about. The tornado left a track 40ft wide. There is heavy rainfall at Townsville, and some parts of the town are flooded. A man named Bruce has been drowned.
