Auckland's Schools.
[By Telegraph.] { UNITED riIESS ASSOCIATION. I Auckland, 10th April. Eighteen applications have beeu received for tbo Chief Inspectorship of Schools. Only two of the applicants are in the colony —namely. Dr. Macarthur, principal of the Queen's College, Auckland and Mr. Henry Worthinpton, head teacher of the WelleelevBtreet publio eohool, Auckland. The other 16 applicants are Australians. The Auckland Educational Institute has suggested to the Board of Education that the opinion of the Inspectors should be considered of first importance in the f diction of teachers for promotion, also that in making nominations for appointments the choice of committee!* should be limited to the three or four teachers most deserving of promotion. The Board decided to inform the Institute that applications of tmobeii for vacancies are forwarded to the corn* mittees by resolution of the Board.
