Practically, the 21st March will be adopted throughout the colony as the day for the Licensing elections. So far there ia only one exception. In tho Marsdon electorate the local authorities have intimated that they prefer Satnrday, as they can Bare expense and servo the convenience of tbe to j-ohera and children by utilising the sohoola on a holiday instead of necessitating tho giving up of a working day. The cost of the elections throughout tho colony ia likely to bo from £7000 to £10,000. This will have to be borne, at any rate in the first instanco, by the local bodied, though in cases where thoy have not means they will show cause to the Government afterwards why the oxpenso in speoifio cases should fall upon the Troaaury, but Parliamentary sanction will bo necessary to aeouro payment. Messrs. R. O. Kirk and J T. King, Potone ; S. V. Burridge, Lower Hntt ; R. O. ■ Bulkley, Karori ; Majendie, Ohariu ;W. Lit tie jobn, Khandallah ; W. Cook, Johnßonville; and Gills— are to be the Temperance candidates for the Suburbs eleotion. A meeting of women favourablo to the Anti-Prohibition cause is to be held at the Cuba-street rooms to-morrow evening. A meeting of anti-Prohibitionists is to bo hold in the Foroaters' Hotel this evening. Women aTe invited.

At a msetintr of the United Temperance Organisation of Palmorston North, it waa deoided to nominate the following candidates for the coming licensing election : — Messrs. J- Stubbs, J. Dixon, V. Pirani, A. Munro, J. Grace, and Rev. R. Young. The party will endeavour to close as many houses aa the Act allows.
