LICENSING ELECTIONS.

The Supplementary Roll for Otaki contains 91 names. The Anti-Prohibition Committee for To Aro Ward met at tho Cuba-street rooms last evening, Mr. H. J. Williams presiding. Upwards of 100 persons wera present, including 20 or 30 women. Resolutions w?ro passed— first, expressing the desirableness of voting for candidates of moderate views ; and secondly, in favour of voting for no reduotion of licenses, as to close any hotel without giving the lioensee an opportunity of doing what might be required would mean confiscation and ruin, and the oity would be the loser in rates and license fees. It was pointed out in support of the last-mentioned resolution that the population of the oity was largely increasing, and that there had been no new houses for a number of years. It was also resolved to procure suitable rooms for the use of the women, those of the sox present consenting to enrol themselves as a working committee. A moeing of women of the Anti' Prohibitionist party took place yesterday at the Foresters' Hall, when it was generally agreed to work up matters in accordance with the programme set forth at previous meetings, to endeavour to secure a thoroughly impartial Licensing Benoh, and to vote for no reduotion in the nnmber of lioensos. The adjourned meeting of suburban

licensed victuallers was held in the Nap:' Head Hotel this morning', Mr. A. H. Berime of Porirna, in the chair. An association, t be called the Wellington Suburbs Licensinj Association, was formed.
