FROZEN MEAT AND DAIRY PRODUCE.

I UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION. I I ondon, 24th February. The Orient and P. and O. Companies deny any knowledge of a concession in freight* for dairy produce from Australia to London, and declare that the matter is still under negotiation. Messrs. Geddis and Bruce, of New South Wales, are in communication with the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, urging that assistance should be given to establish a direct produoe trade between the Australian colonies and Manchester via the Canal. The London Dock Company is making the experiment of discharging frozen meat direot from the steamers to the cold stores . Hitherto the practice has been to distribute tho meat to consignees, but it is believed that under the new By stem the steamers can be discharged in three days instead of three weekH, thus reducing expense and expediting delivery.
