Kerei Kaihau states -he will take the matter up, and on the 20th instant will be at Opuatai to destroy survey pegs. He has formally intimated same to the Native Minister and the Commissioner of Crown Lands, so that they can have him apprehended. Kerei Kaihau, some time ago, did a sentence in Mount Eden for destroying a trig station at the Thames. A letter from Tawhiao on this subject alleges that the road is being taken through a block of native land for about six miles, and that this has been done without his leave having been asked, and without any not.cc having been given or payment offered. When Tawhaio was in Auckland a few days ago he saw the Commissioner of Crown Lands on the subject, but could get no satisfaction. He was told that the road must go through, and that the natives had better desist from all obstruction.
