COLONIAL QUESTIONS AT HOME.

I SPECIAL. | (Received January 29, 11.15 a.m.) London. 28th January. The Marquis of Kipon, Secretary of State for tho Colonies, was waited on yesterday by Mr. R. Reid, who is on his way to Canada as representative of Victoria at the Tariff Conference. He told Mr. Reid that prior to settling an Imperial preferential tariff it would bo necessary to introduce certain legislation. He said he favoured the Pacifio cable scheme, but would prefer to see concerted action in the matter on the part of the various colonies. On the subjeat of coinage, he advised Mr. Reid to see Sir William Harcourt, Chancellor of the Exchequer. (Received January 29, 1 p.m.) London, 28th January. Sir Charles Tupper is co-operating with Mr. Reid, the Victorian delegate, in regard to matters affecting the Australian-Canadian trade.
