Clark has announced bis intention of shortly introducing iv the Legislative Assembly a Bill providing for suppression of betting and gambling, and to extend and amend the Acts relating to games and wagers and the suppression of bettinghouses, the Postage Act Amendment Act of 1893, and to prevent certain kinds of loitering. Mr. Melville moved in the Legislative Assembly th*t tbe Education Act Amendment Bill, which provides for free education, bo reported. Mr. Suttor asked tho House to reconsider its action in passing the "second reading. Be deolared tho peoplo were willing to pay for the schooling of their ohildren, and that therefore the Bill wonld be very hard on the Treasury, withdrawing the sum of .£BO,OOO annually. The Bill was reported by 24 votes to 10.
