FIREWORKS ON THE RAILWAY.
TO THE IDITOB. _ Sir— Biding on the platform of an exonrrion train on tho Manawatn line on the 9th nit. , some young larrikins amused themselves by firing off crackers as ire passed through the tunnels. Not content with thus endanger. ,inj» the train and the lives of its human freight, they must needs begin a general bombardment of the carriages by throwing these fiery instruments of destruction in through the open windows, Several burst within the yioinity of a young lady relative of mine, to the disfigurement of her dress. Upon reaching home she discovered a bola burnt in the side of 'her outer garment, and that her under-ekirt was singed. The great wonder is that she was not severely burned, if not fatally, and in the pamo that would inevitably ensue in the crowded oar more than one life would have been lost, la my opinion it is about time the nonsensical praofioo of Tt eeping Guy Fawkes' Day was put a stop to. When some senous and fatal damage is done by it, I dare say some steps will be taken in this direction. X am, *0., A Nabbow EflCtrz, 16th November.
