He supported the present proposal of the Government as a makeshift only. Mr. M'Millan also regarded the measure as a temporary one. An amendment in favour of a Stato paper ourrency was negatived by 62 to 33. The motion to introduce the Bill was carried by 46 to 36. Nearly the whole of tho Labour Party opposed the Bill.
