The annual roport of the Co-operative Boot Society chows that the society lias earned a 8 per oent. dividend, after allowing 10 per cent, for depreciation and a small balance being brought forward, trliile j6l lt>t> waa paid in wages. At a meeting of volunteers it was agreed that the Auckland district should endeavour to aend five mon to ropreseut it at the New South Wales Intercolonial Meeting. There being no offers of help from the Government, it was decided to ask the assistance of the citizens. The Board of Kdncation has, by 7 to 2, appointed as Chief Inspector of Schools Mr. H. Hill, of Napier, subject to his subscribing to the Board's conditions. There were twelve applications. In tho final ballot Mr. Hill (.Vapier), Mr. Goodwin (Auckland., and Mr. James Hendry (Southland) were left in. The National Association has forwarded a circnlar letter to the Premier and members of Parliament urging farther enquiry iuto the charges made by Mr. Kees against Mr. Cudman The Executive of tho Northern Hallways Leagne has deoided to ascertain at Wellington what is tho progress of the surveys now going on, and to what extent the Government is proceeding with the work on the Central route. The Liberal Association has passed a resolution regret ing tho necessity for disposing of any part of the Cheviot Estate-, and urging the Government to reconsider its decision. Woodville, Tnis Day. An Improvement Company is being formed to take over the borongh recreation reserve, and lay it out for cricket and football grounds and athletic sports.
