THE MATCH AGAINST GLOUCESTER. IUNITID FBISS ASSOCIATION,] London. 17th August. The attendance at the cricket match to-day was good. The weather was fine and the wicket lively. The following were the loading- scores in the first innings of the Australians : — Bannorman, 33 ; Bruce, 23 ; Trott, 28 ; Graham, 22 ; Trnmble, 47 ; Turner, 13 ; Blackham, 15. Townsond took five wickets for 70, ana E. It. Giace two for 42. The Gloucester players bavo lost six wickots in their first innings for 76 rnns — TV. G. Grace. 20, and Rice, 3% being tho leading scorers. In the colonials' innings Bruce scored rapidly, and Baunorman played more freely than usual. Trott and Graham also played freely, and Trnmble gave an excellent display. Townsend, a son of the old Gloucester amateur, puzzled tho Australians with his slow leg-break. The Gloucestershire men were all out for 109— Ferris, 37. Gif Fen took saven wickets for 41. and Tromblo two for 22. Tho former was almost unplayable. fi. M. Grace played a vigorous gamo, bnt the tail collapsed. Snorting Life says the only change made in the All-England team at Manchester will he that Peol replaces Lock wood. Otherwise, the Australians will meet the gams eleven who defeated them so badly this week.
