A STRANGE ELOPEMENT.

A queer elopeniont took place in Mexico recently. Seven masked men entered the house of R. Martinez, near Chapultepec, beat him and his wife severely, searched the house and seized what money they could fiud, and carried off his beautiful daughter, who made a show of the most desperate resistance. Martinez and his wife were nearly heartbroken over the loss of their daughter, and employed detectives to trace the supposed bandits. These soon located one of them at a fashionable hotel in the oity of Mexico. He proved to be Luiz Salazar, a prominent young man, and the daughter of Martinez was living with him as his wife. He was arrested, and has made a confession of the whole affair. He states that he was the lover of the girl, and her parents forbade her seeing him. In order to gain possession of her he arranged the attack with a party of friends disguised as bandits. They raided the house and carried off the prize, who says she went of own free will. They were married the day following the abduction.
