YOUTHFUL NIHILISTS.

r • i A young student was lately found 1 murdered-near the Flussa station, on i the St. Petersburg- Warsaw Railway. 3 He was only 18 years of age, and t was attending lectures at the Cron1 stadt Gymnasium. Some time ago 9 he joined an association formed with , revolutionary objects, but, becoming 1 appreheusivo of the results of his p participation in their proceedings, i applied to be released from his j oath. The other members of the i association, fearing that he might bel tray them, pretended to agree to his I demand, but required him 'before 3 leaving their ranks to carry out a t deed which would probably comprol mise him and thus prevent him from - denouncing them. Thereupon, on j the pretext of executing this deed, two members of the association, ) students at the Military Academy of i Medicine, accompanied him to the i Flussa station, and thence to a j neighbouring wood, where they - killed him, and subsequently cut off 1 his head and disfigured the features, 3 at the same time stripping the body r naked. The murder was discovered r through the indiscretion of one of I the perpetrators, who wore a pecu-larly-shaped hat, by means of which he was recognised by the police, who traced him as well as his companion. The man whose hat led to the arrest was shut up for several hours with ', the body of his victim, aud this so worked upon his mind that he con3 f eased the crime and signed a state- ' meut to that effect. This document r was afterwards shown to his I accomplice, who, after exclaiming " What a coward !" also made a full 1 confession of his guilt. On this 1 evidence the two prisoners were J summarily convicted with closed doors, and sentenced to be hanged ; f a sentence which wos carried out ' forthwith.
