AUDITORSHIPS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir — Tho auditing of commercial documents is, or should be, tho most important matter in all firms and companies, but unfortunately is very frequently carelessly and defectively carried out, causing confusion to thoso interested, and being d'screditablo on the part of the auditors. Such a case has recently taken placo in this city, and although an error of nearly J2IOO was oxplained at a general meeting of its members, the same paid auditors are retained for next half-y ear's statement. Were a heavy penalty (which there should be) attached to auditors in ense of oiror, we fcbonkl soon dispose of incompetent botchers, who only look to their remuneration, and not the interests of those whose work tliey are enpaged on. I am, Sc, Mechanic. 19th July, 1893.
