Franco demands an indemnity of 3,000,000 franca, and requires an answer in 43 hoars. London, 19th July. The English press advises Siam to give France no cause to imperil ita independence. (Beceired July 20, 11 a.m.) Paris, 19th Jnly. The tone of M. Devello's complaints against Lord Rosebery was haughty. He asserted that the Siameso interpret Great Britain's action as encouraging them to resist. M. DevelJe admitted that it was tho intention of the Government to re-conquer tho left bank of tho Mekong, but they had no desire to infringe on the independence of Siam. Bangkok is quiet. Some Fronoh naval officors ascending the Monam were captured, but escaped. Siam is willing to deposit money to meet the Fronch claims pending tho settlement of tho dispnte. It is reported that M. Develle has cabled his ultimatum. JJiORE FRENCH AGGRESSION. (SPECIAL, | (Received July 20, 11 a.m.) Paris, 19th July. The French have Boized Tchone Island, and tho Siamese are retreating before tho French advances.
