♦ Yesterday afternoon clause 5, sub-aeetion A, was amended so as to read—" The payment at age of retirement, or at death, if prior, to each permanent employe 1 or his representatives of a sum not exceeding ono year's pay of such employe"." Sub-seotions b, d, and c were approved. Sub-section o was deferred pending receipt of information regarding its bearing on the accident sick pay now granted to railway employe's under the rules and regulations of the service, f ection 6, sub-section 1, was approved. Considerable discussion ensued in considering sub-section 2, the question being the sub-division of the clause into three parts, one providing for insurance, one for superannuation, and one for the sick pay portion of the benefits. Thia morning the Chairman (Mr. M'Kenna) and Messrs. Donne and Sligo, who hod been appointed a deputation to wait on the Commissioners to obtain information as to the bearing of clause 5, subsection c, on the accident and sick pay now granted to the railway employe's under the rules and regulations of the service, reported that tho Commissioners had promised to extend the present privileges respecting sick pay to all employes, and bad stated that if thia clause were deleted it would be equivalent to reducing the retiring ago to 61 years at the present contribution. It was thereforo reBolved that thia clause bo deleted from tho Bill, and that a letter be sent to the Commissioners thanking them for tho very valuable concession regarding sick -pay which they have promised. As to clanso C, sub - Ecction 2, it was resolved that two separato tables of contributions be prepured, one providing for retiring allowance, and one for endowment policy, any employ^ to be allowed to contribute to either benefit, or both; contributions to be reduced to the lowest possible limit. It was agreed that six days' constitute a week. Clause G, sub-section s— lt was resolved that Government be asked to subsidise the fnnd to the extent of not less than 25 per cent, qf the total contributions of the employe's.
