» The Secretary to the Bailway Commissioners (Mr. E. G. Pilcher) tins morning forwarded the following teply to the lotter of the Premier quoted by us yesterday: — " In reply to your letter of the 18th instant, in which yon request to be informed if the Commissioners intend to repudiate the understanding arrived at as intimated in the Chief Commissioner's Jotter of 20th D/areli last, I am directed to say that it is not their int ;ntion to repudiate it. Tho Commissioners are prepared to carry ont all that they undertook to do in that letter. The Commissioners have not at any time withdrawn their refusal to approve a second goods station at Te Aro, and have maintained a consistent attitnde in reminding tho Minister that, under the peculiar circumstances, the sanction of Parliament would bo desirable to allow of tho work proceeding."
