THE VOLUNTEERS. WELLINGTON NAVALS.

The Wellington Navals brought a very successful shooting season to a close on Saturday last with a match (the sixth) at the Polhill Gully ranges, all classes competing it 300 and 500 yards. A drizzling rain fell the whole day, with a south-east wind, svhich mado shooting miserable, and conaequontly interfered with the number of jompotitora. Nevertheless several good 3c0r03 were made. Tho o 'inmitteo are to be jonpratulated on their efforts iv reviving tho spirit of shooting in tho company, as- the lumber of competitors throughout the season las been very largo, and consequently the jommitteo have been rewarded by seeing a lecidod improvement in the shooting. Mr. 3. Price, of the Central Hotel, very kindly *n,ve a h&ndsomo prize to be competed for .a the usual manner, and P.O. Williams secured tho first log-in for tho came trophy, ilso taking Aitken, Wilson & Co.'s prize, vhich was given by tho winner of the tourlament to the membors of A class for competition. The company bolt and gold medal contests, which constitute tho aggregate ! or tho season, was won by Chief Petty Dfficer Armstrong. The winner ha 3 shot rory consistently throughout the season, his aggregate score being 437 points, and the ivin is a very popular one. The winner of tho B Class trophy, Seaman Murray, who has lot long joined the corps, has secured two l logs-in" in succession for Mrs. Isaacs' irophy.
