THE LIBRARIANSHIP. TO THE EDITOR.

Sir— Out of the clash of business tumult allow me to grasp my pen for a moment to aay an emphatic " Thank you " for your manly reply to " Looker On " in last evening's Post. " Equal pay for equal work and no sex in citizenship," sir, must be tho firsr, plank in that platform on which emancipated woman must take her stand. The surest criterion of a nation's moral worth is the position it accords to woman. Do we claim te lead the world (as we ought) in progress and reform ? Then let us show that we are worthy. When Miss Willard asked her mother if she should accept the presidency of the National W.C.T.U. her reply was " Certainly, my daughter, enter every open door." This should be the tenor of the reply of every man when woman asks (what is only her right) permission to go further and higher. All too long havo the sterner (not stronger) sex monopolised place, power, and privilege, and now if we cannot hold our own let us go to the wall. A pat on the back for you, Mr. Editor ! lam, &c, Geo. M. Yerex. Bth February, | We have received a large number of other and highly complimentary letters on this subjoct. Our correspondents, many of whom are of the fair sex, will, we hope, excuse us if we gratefully accept their compliments bat modestly refrain trom prblishing their ontributiona. We aro happy in their approval.—Ed. E.P. j
