THE AUCKLAND POISONING CASE.
THE CEEAM OF TARTAR CONTAINS ARSENIC. [Bt Telegraph. | ! united press association. ] Auckland, 6th January. The inquest on the body of Walter Nelson, who died in Union-street last night, under circumstances showing that ho had been poisoned, was commenced to-day, but was adjourned until Friday next. An analysis of the contents of the stomach is to be made. The evidence showed that the cream of tartar used in making the jam roll was bought from a grocer named Boyle. Dr. Lawry said he had submitted some of the croam of tartar to an analytical chemist, who found that it contained arsenic. Other evidence waß given, to the effeot that a considerable quantity of the cream of tartar was sold by Boyle from the tin out of which that sold to the Neltons was taken. A sample of cream of tartar obtained somo time ago from tho grocer who supplied tho Nelson family was analysed to-day, and was found to contain arsenic.
