THE CAROLINA LYNCHING.
SLAUGHTER UPON SLAUGHTER, THE LYNCHERS HOLD THE TOWN. TROOPS TO BE SENT OUT. (UNITED PBESB ASSOCIATION.) Nkw York, sth January. Further fighting has taken place in connection with the lynching incident at Bckeravillo, North CuroJina. 6th January. The trouble in connection with the lynching affair has assumed a most serious aspeot. In all 42 popple have been killed, among the number being the sheriff, while the list of wounded reaches 40. Three prisoners were lynched by the mob, who are now in possession of the town, and troops will probably bo 9ent to quell the disturbance. The prisoners were deliberately shot on the way to execution. | Latest. TORTUEED, SHOT AND BURNED. I SPECIAL. | (Received January 7, 12 30 p.m ) New Yokk, 6th January. The Bakersvillo trouble originated over ar* illicit still. Three prisoners had murdered those who had informed against the proprietor of it. The lyncbers rushed the gaol, and despite the deadly firo of the warders and others, rescued the prisoners who were (ruilty of the murder, and whom they tortured and then shot, setting the bodies on fire.
