On Saturday night a man named Patriok Smith, aged about 35, unmarried, formorly of Auckland, was arrested for attempted Buicido at Belgrove, where he hud been working on the railway works. He had , beaten his head against the top of a culvert and then taken an axe and tried to smash hia skull. He ia badly, but not seriously, injured. It is thought he made an attempt on his life about a year ago.
