THE PICTON REGATTA. WELLINGTON ROWING CLUB WINS A RACE.
The regatta at Picton yesterday att.-acted a great deal of interest amongst the Weilington excursionists to that seaport, on account of several crews from this city being engaged in it. The weather waa fine, and there was smooth water for all the raoos. Following are the results of tho principal events : — Maiden Four-oared Inrigged Gigs. One milo and a-half . First prize, £5 ; 2nd prize, £2. Picton Rowing Club — L. Pugh (1), W. Porano (2), T. Jackson (3), J. Norton (stroke), G. Fell (cox) . l Blenheim Rowing Club— Mills (1), Draper (2), M'Kay (3), Hale (stroke), Carter (cox) . 2 Won easily. Sajling Race (opon boats). First prize, £8. Bartlett's Azalea . .1 Hobloy's Favourite . . 2 Two others started. Junior Four-oared Inrigged Gigs. One and a half miles. First prize, £Q; second, £2. Wakatu— J. Lowe (stroke), Williams (3), G. Ryan (2j, Tibblo (bow), K. Johnston (cox) .. ... . ... 1 Pioton— J. Norton (stroke). T. Jaokßon (3), W. Marshall (2), F. Markman (bow), G. Fell (cox) .. .. 2 Wellington— G. B. Nioholls (stroke), G. Parsons (3), F. R. Curtis (2), H. Gamble (bow), H. The boat in which the Wellington men rowed was old and heavy.
