Lady Glasgow, in replying, said it afforded her great pleasure to bo able to assist in the work of such an

admirable institution as the Girl™' Friendly Society undoubtedly was, an institution which benefitted not only the residents of the city, but also young women arriving here from the Old World without friends. The remainder of the evening was spent in a sociable manner, a capital musical programme being gone through under the direction of Mra. Gore. Amongst those who assisted were Mesdames Reynold* and England, Misses Gore and Withers, and Messrs. Bichmond, Gore, and Frederickson. The National Anthem concluded the proceedings.
