Mowatfc, Brunskill, Collins, Baylis, Hoginbotham, Chegwin, and Hopwood. Messrs. Brown, Skerrett. and Dean »ppliod, on bohalf of Mr. W. H. Field, for tho Conncil's consent to a right-of-way over a portiom ' of tho Rosoneath estate. On the motiom of Councillor Collins, it was resolved to> 1 grant tho required permission. Tho report- • of the Public Works Committee, irliichi ' has already been published, was adopted. A long disonssion took place with reference5 to tho question of forming^ Dunoan-torraoo-T and Charlos-street, both in tho Kilbirnio Ward. Councillor Chogwin urged that tho • work was absolutely necessary, and moved that tenders should be invited. Councillor • Hoginbotham seconded the resolution. Tho Mayor pointed out that there was a dobit balance, and that tho Council was committed to an expenditure of about £400. Ho therefore thought that members should be careful in not incurring further oxpendii ture unless the works wero absolutely nocosf sary. Councillor Collins suggested that a " committee of ways should bo appointed. s After furthor disouasion, Councillor Chegi win's resolution was put and carried. Accounts amounting to £12A Is 6d wore pasßod for payment. ONSLOW. There wore present at tho monthly moot' ing of the Onslow Borough Connoil last evening Councillors Clark (in the chair). Holmes, Hobbs, Durrell, and Aplin. A letter was read from Mr. F. G. Moore, " Secretary to the Wairarapa Contributory Local Authorities, asking tho Council to appoint a delegate in order that considera/tion should bo given to tho propcmftl to establish a house for tho poor in tho Waiira,q rapa. The letter was rooeived. Mr. 11. 1 Ashworth wrote drawing attention to thei faot that tho storm water from Hanoverstreet was flowing on to his land. No actiom taken. A letter from the Town Clork of Wellington in roforenoo to repairs to thd Wadestown-road was ordered to lie on thoo tabie, the work having been attendod to.. Lady Atkinson wrote thanking tho CoulciK ' for its sympathy. Councillor Durroll alluded l te the retirement of Councillors Clark, Aplin ,, and Hobbs, and expressed a hopo that thoy would be re-oleoted. After the Councillors named had made some remarks, the mooting closed.
