STAR BOATING CLUB.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir — There is a very strong opposition being worked up amongst the junior members of the club to turn out the present committee at to-night's meeting, and replace them by others who have had no experience in the management of snch a large and important institution as the Star Club has now become. I trust these oppositionists will reconsider the injudicious step they are taking, and •do nothing of the sort. They little know the time, trouble, and expense Messrs. Knapp, Maxwell, and Co. have been to in bringing the club from the mere shed it was when I joined to the magnificent boathouse we now have, with the finest plant in the colony which is not only a credit to the members, but one which the Empire City may justly feel proud of. The only just cause of complaint I think any of the members can possibly have is the non-success of the olnb's regatta crews, which, I venture to hint, has been for want of training, and nothing else. As there is a considerable amount of financing to be done, and new plant to be seen to, during the coming season, I trust the members will retnrn men of experience, who have already proved themselves worthy of the position of committeemen, in preference to novices, who might easily do an incalculable amount of harm in such a large and important club. Thanking you in anticipation for inserting' this, I am, Ac., One of tee Old Mkmbkss. '
