TAWHIAO'S PENSION.

Tawhiao, the Maori King, has issued a printed manifesto, embodying the Gtalolnont made by him at tho recent native meeting at Maungukawa. Ifio says tho Cfovcrnment havo deceived him with referenco to hia arrangement with tlio Native Minister, by which ho received a pension. He says that what Mr. Cadmau really said to him was in effect—" Retain control of the Maori people ; conduct and govern your own people, tho Maoris. There is no meaning in the pension, which is {riven you as yon are getting old." TawhiiiQ rcitorates his independence as tho Maori King, and concludos by saying that ho will not touch tho money offered.
